Representative image of the region — not this specific village.

Arman is one of the Chhantyal villages of Myagdi, set among the southern slopes of the Dhaulagiri range. Its former VDC is now part of Mangala Rural Municipality, the unit formed in 2017 from Arman, Baranja and their neighbours.

Trace-back

Chhantyal tradition holds that the people once thrived in a sacred place called “Chhentu” before spreading along the southern flanks of Dhaulagiri — the same memory that gives this website its name, Chhentung. The broader story is well known: around 700 years ago the Chhantyal are said to have come to Myagdi from Sinja, in Jumla, in search of copper, and mining became their defining craft.

What people do

The village’s own figures are not yet recorded here. Life follows the rhythm of the region — farming, livestock, and income from family abroad.

The village is also recorded as "Arman Khani" — the "-khani" ending marking it among the copper-mine settlements from which the Chhantyal community grew across the Dhaulagiri hills.
