Representative image of the region — not this specific village.

Darling is a village in Baglung district, in the Dhaulagiri region, with a fairly large Chhantyal settlement. Community and municipal sources count it within Kathekhola Rural Municipality. Its precise location is not yet confirmed here — the name appears at more than one point on the maps — so it is held off the map until a community source can pin it.

Trace-back

It belongs to the Baglung heartland of the Chhantyal people, who spread across these southern Dhaulagiri hills in search of copper and made mining their defining craft.

A large settlement

Wikipedia records a population of 7,311 for the Darling VDC — a substantial community by the standards of these hills, even if Chhantyal are only one of the groups within that total.

What people do

As across Baglung, daily life rests on farming, animal husbandry and income from family abroad.
