Dhamja is a village in Kathekhola Rural Municipality–3 of Baglung district, sitting at about 1,748 metres. Unlike the small copper hamlets higher up, it is a larger, mixed community — home to Chhantyal families alongside Magar, Chhetri, Brahmin and other groups who make up Baglung.
Trace-back
Dhamja belongs to the broader Baglung homeland where most Chhantyal have always lived. Here the community shares village life with its neighbours rather than forming a single-clan settlement — a reminder that the Chhantyal story is woven through the wider hills of the Dhaulagiri region.
What people do
At the 1991 census Dhamja had a population of 2,571 living in 497 houses. Most families depend on traditional agriculture — millet, barley, rice, wheat and seasonal fruit and vegetables — supplemented today by work abroad.
