Representative image of the region — not this specific village.

Ekrate is named by the Nepal Chhantyal Sangh among its Chhantyal areas, on the roster’s list for Pyuthan district. Pyuthan does not appear in earlier sources on the community, so this is among the newest additions to the Chhantyal map, and the presence here is not yet documented in independent sources.

A note on the location: the only “Ekrate” (also spelt Ekrata) we can find in a gazetteer is a small locality in Jaimuni, Baglung — inside the Chhantyal heartland, not in Pyuthan. That may point to a district mix-up in the roster, so we leave Ekrate’s district and place unconfirmed for now.

Trace-back

The Sangh’s roster is the only source that names Ekrate as a Chhantyal locality, reflecting how far the community has dispersed from its Myagdi–Baglung heartland. How and when Chhantyal families came here is not separately recorded.
