Representative image of the region — not this specific village.

Jaljala is a former village development committee in Baglung district that now lends its name to Jaljala Rural Municipality. The Nepal Chhantyal Sangh names it among the district’s Chhantyal settlements, where Chhantyal families live within a wider hill community.

Trace-back

Jaljala belongs to the Baglung homeland of the Chhantyal, sharing the community’s long history of copper mining and hill farming across the Dhaulagiri country. The name is shared with the high Jaljala meadows of the wider region.

At the time of the 1991 census

Jaljala recorded 3,637 people in 624 houses, its Chhantyal families part of a larger settlement.

What people do

Life rests on farming the slopes, livestock, and income from family working abroad.
