Representative image of the region — not this specific village.

Kuine Khani lies in the Raghuganga area of Myagdi, named — like its neighbours Thada Khani and Mangale Khani — among the district’s old copper mine villages.

Trace-back

The “-khani” ending marks it as a mine settlement. Kuine Khani belongs to the eastern cluster of Chhantyal villages whose copper drew our ancestors to these hills, and whose mines now lie quiet, buried in the forest.

At the time of the 1991 census

Recorded under the name Kuinemangale, the village had a population of 1,650 people in 290 households — one of the larger settlements of the eastern Chhantyal belt.

What people do

As across Myagdi, families live by farming, livestock and work abroad, the old copper trade long behind them.
