Representative image of the region — not this specific village.

Malhampar (also written Malampar) is one of the villages of the eastern Myagdi hills recorded in linguistic fieldwork as a place where the Chhantyal language is still spoken — among the small cluster that kept the mother tongue alive longest.

Trace-back

It belongs to the eastern group of Chhantyal villages that grew up around the district’s copper. As with the community as a whole, mining was the old calling here before everyday life turned toward the land.

What people do

The villagers’ main occupations today are farming and animal husbandry, with many supported by work abroad. Specific population figures are not yet recorded here.
