Nisi is a large former village development committee in western Baglung, now part of — and the namesake of — Nisikhola Rural Municipality. The Nepal Chhantyal Sangh names it among the district’s Chhantyal settlements, where Chhantyal families live within a wider hill population, near the Nisi Khola whose valley the municipality is named for.
Trace-back
Nisi belongs to the western Baglung hill country of the Chhantyal, sharing the community’s long history of copper mining and farming on the Dhaulagiri foothills.
At the time of the 1991 census
Nisi recorded 5,215 people in 1,067 houses — one of the more populous units of the district, its Chhantyal families part of a much larger settlement.
What people do
Life rests on farming the slopes, livestock, and income from family working abroad.
